While preparing for a debate, a student learns a variety of skills to be thorough and accurate in his or her research, to analyze, to distinguish between the vital and the unimportant, to present ideas in a clear and effective manner and to make decisions quickly and accurately.

Elocution is the art of speaking well in public. Special attention is paid in pronunciation, grammar, style, tone and delivery.

Children are taught the basic tactics one must employ while participating in a quiz. Concentration, memory and alertness are useful skills that are developed through this activity.
